leopard and stripes

Here I am in one of my favorite looks. Though, I as much as I adore this vintage leopard print jacket it's not in the greatest shape. I've had it in my collection forever, and it's more of a show piece then anything practical. It's a bit thread bear and the lining is shot. There is still something about it I just can't resist. Leopard print jackets also go for an arm and a leg on Etsy nowadays. So, for me to come across another one might be rare. At least the exterior is still in tact. Here are some impersonators of what I am wearing on Etsy:

cable knit fisherman sweater

Classic chunky cable knit sweater season! I usually layer it with a colorful button down underneath. And my boyfriend jeans. There are a lot of pretty cable knit sweaters out there, and the thicker wool the better in the freezing cold. You can find some good synthetic versions if you're allergic to wool. The thing is with these guys is they do have to be protected by moths. Which is VERY annoying if you find a really nice vintage version such as the one I am wearing because it will eventually just disintegrate if you have or develop a moth problem. Moth balls are smelly, so the best case to rid of moths is dry cleaning. Some times I will wash a wool knit with woolite on a delicate cycle in the wash and spread flat to dry as to not lose shape. Though, like jeans they don't have to be washed consistently.  Or else the fibers wear down.

Cable knitting is a great art, and some pieces go for a fairly high price tag dependent on the craftmanship. It began and is known also as an Aran jumper in Ireland. "Originally the jumpers were knitted using unscoured wool that retained its natural oils (lanolin) which made the garments water-resistant and meant they remained wearable even when wet.[citation needed] It was primarily the wives of island fishermen who knitted the jumpers[citation needed] before local knitters began selling their produce through initiatives.

Some stitch patterns have a traditional interpretation, often of religious significance. The honeycomb is a symbol of the hard-working bee. The cable, an integral part of the fisherman's daily life, is said to be a wish for safety and good luck when fishing. The diamond is a wish of success, wealth and treasure. The basket stitch represents the fisherman's basket, a hope for a plentiful catch."

My gothy Batman look with a faux leather skort! Yes, skort. Not quite skirt, not quite shorts. The 90s clothing equivalent to a spork. I also paired it with thrifted 90s chunky Walmart brand "725" shoes, and a vintage beaded hat. It's very Enid Coleslaw. How to recreate this look according to Etsy?

So here is what my boyfriend described as my "Carly Simon" look. I think mainly due to the wide brim hat. This is one of my favorite looks and fav vintage dresses which I bought when I had my shop from nice lady who shared space in my store and who also did alterations for me named Hana. If you're in Toronto you can check her out at Ransack The Universe where she still does alterations. She's great with vintage. I think what I like most about it is the unique empire waist, and the striking color. It looks like a classic burnout velvet dress, but it's actually synthetic. It's perfect for the season, because anything of this kind of material is bound to keep you warm.

Here is a similar look I curated from Etsy:

Hello all! So here I am again with another winter oriented style. I will admit, I just realized that in this outfit I am wearing the most contemporary non-thrifted items ever. Usually I adorn myself with thrifted items under $20. This time I have the one Roots sweater I splurged on when I first moved to Kitchener and my summer oriented holographic flats from Etsy. This is a big stretch for me since I usually detour from buying anything new. But I had some extra cash, and the sweater was one of my first purchases in a new city. I like to make up excuses for the amount I spent on it. Regardless, it is seeing me through this winter and is so comfortable and easy to throw on. It's also classically Canadian. I like to call this particular look "frumpy chic".
Anyway, on to the Etsy finds.
